Last weekend we went to Achill Island in County Mayo. The parish of Achill includes also the Curraun Peninsula. Achill is connected to the mainland by a bridge only.
In July it appears in all different shades of greens, which of course is very nice, but I think the island is even more beautiful in May, when the Rhododendron and Furze Bushes bloom and make the scenery more colorful.
The photo above was taken on Friday, when it was overcast, but the weather was still not too bad.
Letztes Wochenende fuhren wir nach Achill Island im Landkreis Mayo. Die Pfarrgemeinde von Achill inkludiert auch die Curraun Halbinsel. Achill ist mit dem Festland nur durch eine Brücke verbunden.
Im Juli erscheint sie in allen verschiedenen Schattierungen von Grün, was freilich auch sehr nett aussieht, aber ich denke, dass die Insel im Mai noch schöner ist, wenn die Rhododendron und Furze Büsche blühen und die Szenerie noch bunter erstrahlen lassen.
Das Foto oben wurde am Freitag gemacht, als sich schon langsam dicke Wolken bildeten, aber zu diesem Zeitpunkt war das Wetter noch nicht so schlecht.
As you see here on the next few photos, the weather got very bad, dark clouds, rain and fog followed for the next 2 days.
Wie man auf den nächsten paar Fotos sehen kann, hat sich das Wetter in den nächsten 2 Tagen sehr verschlechtert, gefolgt von dunklen Wolken, Regen und Nebel.

In Keel, where we stayed in a nice B&B is a little lake, where surfers enjoy their sports.
In Keel, wo wir in einem netten Bed and Breakfast übernachteten, gibt es einen kleinen See, der vom nahegelegenen Meer gespeist wird, wo Surfer ihren Sport ausüben.
Our last day was Monday and we went home slowly through the Midlands. It was still raining in some areas, but we also saw a good bit of sunshine.
Unser letzter Tag war Montag und wir machten uns langsam durch das Landesinnere auf den Heimweg. Es regnete noch immer zeitweise, aber wir konnten auch ein bisschen Sonnenschein geniessen.
