Stift Heiligenkreuz im Wienerwald, Heiligenkreuz Abbey in the Vienna Forest

Das Stift Heiligenkreuz ist eine Zisterzienserabtei im Wienerwald, in Niederösterreich. Es ist das älteste dauernd bewohnte Kloster in der Welt. Es wurde 1133 von Markgraf Leopold III gegründet.

Stift Heiligenkreuz is a Cistercian Monastery in the Vienna Woods, in Lower Austria. It is the oldest continuously occupied Cistercian Monastery in the world. It was founded 1133 by Margrave Leopold III.

 Rechts der Totensaal. Die grotesken Lichterträger werden als Skelette dargestellt, hiermit wird der Tod verspottet.

On the righthand side you see the room for the dead. Skeletons are carrying the candle holders and sneer at the death.

Salzburg - Austria

 Im Mirabellgarten

Hinauf zur Hohenfeste Salzburg geht es per Zahnradbahn, wenn man sich anstellen will. Zu Fuss sind es nur ein paar Minuten.

A rack railway goes up to the castle, the "Hohenfeste Salzburg", but you might have to wait in a long queue. It is only a few minutes by foot if you prefer to walk.

Laxenburg bei Wien/ Laxenburg near to Vienna

Laxenburg einmal von einer anderen Perspektive: die Turmwanderung bietet einen wunderschönen Ausblick auf das Schloß und die Umgebung. Gleichzeitig kann man den interessanten geschichtlichen Ausführungen des Turmführers lauschen.

Laxenburg from a different perspective: you have a stunning view down to the castle and surroundings, when you do the tower walk and you can listen to the tower guide's interesting historical stories.

 Man kann mit einem Bus von Wien Hauptbahnhof in etwa einer halben Stunde nach Laxenburg gelangen und das um einen Spottpreis! Es ist auf jeden Fall die Anreise wert!

Laxenburg is easy to reach by bus from the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) in Vienna, you will arrive there within a half an hour, and that for a very low bus fare! It is definitely worth the journey!
