This tree in front of our house was cut off by the storm as well! It must have walked away on its two legs, as it was gone, when we arrived home after our Valentine's weekend out.

I think it's needless to explain as the pictures show how beautiful our Valentines' weekend out was. The weather was great as well and we could not have been in a lovelier area. To our delight it felt a bit as if there was spring in the air. We would not mind as we have enough from winter at this stage!

Ireland after the storms

There was not much snow in winter 2013/2014, only a little a bit on higher grounds as you will see in my next post, but we had very bad storms ( up to 170 km/h), high waves and floods. Here are a few photos of some areas taken after the storms and horrible weather.

The whole parking area was under water, so we could not walk to the castle, but the swans enjoyed it, they
thought it was a new lake!








There were 14 mobile homes destroyed on this site, the owners probably won't be happy about that, but as that are only holiday homes and not their permanent residences they will get over that, I suppose.
Appr. 100.000 households were without electricity for days, farmers' fields became lakes and lots of houses got damaged by the storms and the high waters.

Christmas 2013 in Vienna/Austria - Weihnachten 2013 in Wien

Heuer hatten wir weder in Waterford, Irland, noch in Wien zu Weihnachten Schnee. Es war zwar kalt genug, aber es wollten trotzdem keine hübschen Schneeflöckchen zur Erde herunter fallen und alles unter  einer weißen Decke verstecken , obwohl ich mir das so sehr gewünscht hätte. Weiße Weihnachten sind eben schöner, aber die Natur macht halt, was sie will und Wetter kann man bekanntlich nicht irgendwo bestellen.

This year we had no snow at Christmas, neither in Waterford, Ireland, nor in Vienna. It was cold enough,  but the lovely snow flakes still did not want to fall down and cover the place under a white blanket, though I would have wished that so much. A white Christmas is more romantic, but nature does what it wishes and weather obviously can't be ordered somewhere.
